Seminars in the AareLand Region

The AareLand Region stretches from the southern Jura foothills to Zofingen and the areas surrounding Aarau. More than 60 municipalities joined forces in 2012 to develop a common strategy in the sectors of spatial and urban planning, transport, business, education, culture and leisure. The largest towns in the region are Olten, Zofingen and Aarau.
A central location and excellent transport links by road and rail (around 60% of all Swiss residents can reach the region in less than an hour) is by far not all the Aareland Region has to offer. With a strategy aimed specifically at reducing travel times between urban and rural areas, the municipalities are committed to developing the region as an attractive place to work and live. In doing so, the urban centres of Aarau, Olten and Zofingen are being strengthened. Settlement and transport planning is coordinated with the neighbouring regions of Zurich, Basel, Bern and Lucerne, with an emphasis on boosting structural efficiency.
The region’s towns also have a great deal to offer the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events) market. Aarau and Olten in particular already have a comparatively large number of seminar hotels, conference centres and event halls.
The area surrounding Olten and Aarau has long been known as ‘transit country’. Today, the AareLand is showing promise as an emerging and successful Swiss economic region.
